Grossman, Griese or Orton?

I wonder who will start the most games for the Bears this season? My money would be on Griese, but the team hopes it’s the injury prone Rex Grossman. Grossman definately has the talent to be a good NFL QB, but it doesn’t matter if you can’t stay on the field. In three seasons Grossman has appeared in 8 games (7 starts) and his numbers are not that impressive (53.8% completions, 1,303 yards, 4 TD 6 INT and a 68.8 rating). The numbers don’t really back him up as starting material, but the Bears did draft him in the first round three years ago so he’ll continue to get a shot because no team likes to admit they made a mistake.

Brian Griese really has played well the last two seasons after his debacle in Miami. In the last two years Griese played in 17 games (16 starts) and threw for 3,768 yards, 27 TD and 19 INT. Griese is a great fit for the Bears, in that, he doesn’t have to win the game himself. Griese is a very accurate passer (63.1% completions for career, with 103 TD and 78 INT) and he owns an impressive career QB rating of 84.8.

Kyle Orton was the un-sung hero of the Bears last season. Not much was expected of him, but he started 15 games and led the Bears to the playoffs. True, he only completed 51.6% of his passes for 1,869 yards. And true, he only threw 9TD and 13 INT…..but…..he is a winner in every sense of the word and is one of the better #3 QBs in the league.
