Chicago Bears fall 29-17 to the Colts in the Super Bowl
The Bears hung tough for three quarters before Rex Grossman went colorblind and started throwing the football to the Colts’ defensive backs. The Bears had big troubles with the Colts offense as they held on to the ball for 38:04 and rolled up 430 total yards on them. What a disappointment for the Bears after the electric start to the game as Devin Hester returned the opening kickoff 92 yards for a TD.
Rex Grossman was the Colts’ real MVP of the Super Bowl. Grossman completed 20 of 28 passes for 165 yards with 1 TD pass and 2 interceptions. Both of the interceptions were thrown in the 4th quarter and decided this football game as one of them was returned 56 yards for a TD by reserve CB Kelvin Hayden of the Colts. Thomas Jones had a fantastic game as he carried the ball 15 times for 112 yards (7.5 ypc) and he also caught 4 passes for 18 yards. TE Desmond Clark was busy with 6 catches for 64 yards. Mushin Muhammad caught 3 passes for 25 yards, one of which was for a TD.
Lance Briggs led the way for the Bears defense with 13 tackles. CB Charles Tillman had a solid game with 11 tackles and an amazing play where he caused and recovered a fumble. Brian Urlacher also had a solid game with 10 tackles.
