Rex Grossman is starting for the Chicago Bears right now….but….

Brian Griese is still the better QB and he should be starting if he is healthy.  Griese has completed 134 of 217 passes (61.8%) for 1,508 yards with 9 TD passes and 10 interceptions (77.1 QB Rating) so far this season.  Griese appears to have lost his starting job due to injury but Rex Grossman hasn’t exactly been lighting up the sky with good passes.  Grossman has completed 95 of 173 passes (54.9%) for 1,101 yards passing with 3 TD passes and 7 interceptions (63.3 QB Rating) so far this season.  The Bears would be smart to get Griese back in there as soon as he gets healthy.

Chicago Bears 37, Denver Broncos 34 in OT

The Bears won a incredible game last week at home.  They were trailing by 14 points with a little over 6 minutes left before Rex Grossman pulled some magic out of his helmet.  He completed 17 of 33 passes for 198 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 interception.  Cedric Benson was running well (8 car, 47 yards) before he blew out his knee ending his season.  Adrian Peterson found yardage tough to get as he carried the ball 17 times for 45 yards (2.6 ypc) with a TD run.  He also caught 5 passes for 41 yards (8.2 avg).  Rookie Garrett Wolfe had a solid game with 3 carries for 29 yards (9.7 ypc).  Desmond Clark had two big catches for 61 yards (20.3 avg).  Bernard Berrian only caught 3 passes for 24 yards but he had a big TD grab.  The Bears finished up with 122 yards rushing on 32 carries (3.8 ypc) and they also completed 17 of 33 passes for 171 yards.

Devin Hester was the real star of this game as he returned 5 kickoffs for 151 yards (30.2 avg) with a TD.  He also returned 5 punts for 81 yards (16.2 avg) with a TD.  The Bears are happy that Mike Shanahan was dumb enough to kick the ball to Hester….because if he didn’t…..the Broncos would have likely won this football game.

Hunter Hillenmeyer (10 tackles), Adewale Ogunleye (7 tackles, 2 sacks) and Charles Tillman (3 tackles, interception) led the way on the Bears defense.  The Broncos finished up with 138 yards rushing on 37 carries (3.7 ypc) and they also completed 17 of 31 passes for 292 yards.

Seattle Seahawks 30, Chicago Bears 23

The Bears played a good game on offense today but the defense let them down.  Rex Grossman was solid today as he completed 24 of 37 passes for 266 yards and he also carried the ball 4 times for 13 yards (3.3 ypc).  Cedric Benson had his best game of the season for the Bears as he carried the ball 11 times for 89 yards (8.1 ypc) with a TD run.  Adrian Peterson pitched in with 11 yards rushing on 5 carries (2.2 ypc) with a TD run.  Bernard Berrian was very busy in this game as he caught 9 passes for 102 yards (11.3 avg) to lead all Bears receivers in this game.  Mushin Muhammad (3 rec, 71 yards) and Greg Olsen (7 rec, 43 yards) both added some spice to the passing game.  The Bears finished up with 107 yards rushing on 22 carries (4.9 ypc) and they also completed 24 of 37 passes for 238 yards.

Brian Urlacher (8 tackles, fumble recovery) and Charles Tillman (8 tackles) led a poor effort by the Bears defense today.  The Seahawks rushed for 103 yards on 23 carries (4.5 ypc) and they also completed 30 of 44 passes for 322 yards.

The Bears certainly didn’t play great in this game on offense but the defense bailed them out.  Brian Griese was 10 of 14 passing for 97 yards before he left the game with an injury.  Rex Grossman came off of the bench and to the rescue as he played his best game of the season.  He completed 7 of 14 passes for 142 yards with a long TD pass to Bernard Berrian.  Cedric Benson continued to suck as he carried the ball 29 times for 76 yards (2.6 ypc) with a TD run and he also caught 2 passes for 21 yards (10.5 avg).  Bernard Berrian (4 rec, 89 yards, TD) and Mushin Muhammad (4 rec, 87 yards) both played well for the Bears against the Raiders.  The Bears finished up with 78 yards rushing on 34 carries (2.3 ypc) and they also completed 17 of 28 passes for 217 yards.

The Bears defense was led by the trio of Hunter Hillenmeyer, Adam Archuleta and Brian Urlacher who each had 8 tackles.  The Raiders finished up with 113 yards rushing on 29 carries (3.9 ypc) and they also completed 14 of 27 passes for 80 yards.

The Bears played a horrible game last Sunday and they deserved to lose.  Brian Griese did his best Rex Grossman impression as he completed 22 of 40 passes for 208 yards with 1 TD pass and 4 INTs.  Cedric Benson continued his sleepwalk through the season with 13 carries for 50 yards (3.8 ypc).  Adrian Peterson carried the ball 2 times for 11 yards (5.5 ypc) and he also caught 6 passes for 41 yards (6.8 avg).  Greg Olsen led the way in the passing game for the Bears with 6 catches for 59 yards (9.8 avg) with a TD grab.  The Bears finished up with 63 yards rushing on 20 carries (3.2 ypc) and they completed 22 of 40 passes for 192 yards.

Lance Briggs led the way on defense for the Bears with 7 tackles and a sack.  The Lions finished with 119 yards rushing on 28 carries (4.3 ypc) and they also completed 24 of 35 passes for 246 yards.
