Kevin Jones signs a 1-year contract with the Chicago Bears
The Bears have signed Kevin Jones to a 1-year deal. He will battle Matt Forte for the starting job at tailback as long as he is healthy. Jones played in 13 games (10 starts) for the Lions last season and he carried the ball 153 times for 581 yards (3.8 ypc) with 8 TD runs. He also caught 32 passes for 197 yards (6.2 avg) last year. Jones is strong enough to run up the middle at 6′0″, 228 pounds and he’s fast enough to get to the corner when he’s healthy. Jones has now played in 53 games (39 starts) in his NFL career and he has carried the ball 761 times for 3,067 yards (4.0 ypc) with 24 TD runs. He has also caught 141 passes for 1,006 yards (7.1 avg) with 3 TD grabs. This was a risk worth taking for the Bears who needed some help at running back for the 2008 season.
