The Bears are getting better on offense with every game.  Jay Cutler went into his personal snake pit (Denver) and he was outstanding completing 15 of 21 passes for 144 yards with a TD pass.  Caleb Hanie was the next QB to play for the Broncos and he completed 4 of 8 passes for 48 yards.  Brett Basanez completed his only 2 pass attempts in this game for 51 yards.  Adrian Peterson led the way on the ground in this game for the Bears with 68 yards on 12 carries (5.7 ypc) with 1 TD run.  Matt Forte was also busy carrying the ball 9 times for 21 yards (2.3 ypc) with a TD run.  He also caught 4 passes for 11 yards (2.8 avg) with a TD.  TE Greg Olsen led the Bears in receiving yards with 47 on three grabs (15.7 avg).  The Bears finished up with 357 total yards in this game (114 rushing, 243 passing).

Safety Kevin Payne (5 tackles) and linebacker Lance Briggs (5 tackles, sack) led the way for the Bears in this game.  The Broncos finished up with 297 total yards on offense (93 rushing, 204 passing).

Chicago Bears 17, New York Giants 3

The Bears looked much better last Saturday Night against the Giants.  Jay Cutler was solid in this game completing 8 of 13 passes for 121 yards with 1 TD pass.  He also carried the ball 1 time for 12 yards.  Caleb Hanie finished up this game for the Bears at QB and he completed 10 of 18 passes for 120 yards.  Matt Forte led the way in the running game for the Bears with 58 yards on 9 carries (6.4 ypc) with 1 TD run.  WR Earl Bennett led the way for the Bears in the passing game with 42 yards receiving on 2 catches (21.0 avg).  The Bears spread the ball around to 15 different receivers in this football game.  The Bears finished up with 372 total yards on offense (150 rushing, 222 passing) in this football game which was a huge improvement over the preseason opener.

Linebackers Kevin Malent and Jamar Williams led the way for the Bears in this game with 5 tackles apiece.  The Bears only allowed 259 total yards on offense (119 rushing, 140 passing) but the Giants did averaged 5.4 yards per rush and that just won’t get the job done.

The Chicago Bears lose Dusty Dvoracek for the season

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Big Bear News, Injury Reports, General by admin on Saturday 29 August 2009 at 9:12 pm

The Bears have lost 26-year old DT Dusty Dvoracek for the season due to a torn ACL.  This is the 4th season in a row that his season has ended due to injury.  Dvoracek played in 12 games (all starts) for the Bears last season and he made 29 tackles and defensed 2 passes.  He has now played in 13 games (all starts) in his NFL career and he has 31 tackles and has defensed 2 passes.  This poor guy would have no luck if not for bad luck.

Buffalo Bills 27, Chicago Bears 20

The Bears looked pathetic against the Bills and were lucky the final score was so close.  Jay Cutler started this game and he did not look good completing 5 of 10 passes for 64 yards with a interception.  Caleb Hanie followed Cutler in this game and he was outstanding completing 8 of 11 passes for 87 yards with a TD pass.  Brett Basanez finished up this game and he was awful completing just 3 of 11 passes for 26 yards with 1 TD pass and 3 interceptions.  Adrian Peterson led the Bears in rushing in this game with 27 yards on 7 carries (3.9 ypc).  TE Desmond Clark led the Bears in receiving yards in this game with 30 on 1 catch.  Fullback Will Ta’ufo’ou (14 yarder) and WR Juaquin Iglesias (10 yards) each caught a TD pass in this game.  The Bears finished up with only 225 yards on offense (57 rushing, 168 passing) in this game and they only had possession of the football for 22 minutes in this game!

Linebacker Kevin Malast and CB Trumaine McBride each had 7 tackles apiece to lead the Bears in this game.  The Bears held the Bills to only 2.9 yards per carry in this game but the Bills completed 29 of 34 passes for 252 yards.  The Bears have a lot to work on before the games start to count in September.
