The Chicago Bears sign linebacker Brian Iwuh

The Bears have signed 26-year old linebacker Brian Iwuh.  Iwuh played in 15 games for the Jaguars last season and he had 29 tackles including 1 tackle for a loss.  He has now played in 58 games in his NFL career and he has 83 tackles and 1 forced fumble.  This was a good signing for the Bears as Iwuh will provide depth at linebacker and help on special teams.

The Chicago Bears pick OT J’Marcus Webb in the 7th round

The Bears have picked OT J’Marcus Webb with the 218th overall pick (7th round) of the NFL Draft.  He started his college career at Texas before transferring to West Texas A&M.  He is a huge guy at 6’8″, 328 pounds so he has the size to handle the job.  But the Bears are going to have to coach him up to get him onto the field as most draft experts didn’t think Webb would get picked at all.

The Chicago Bears pick QB Dan LeFevour in the 6th round

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,The Draft Report by admin on Thursday 6 May 2010 at 10:07 am

The Bears have picked QB Dan LeFevour out of Central Michigan with the 181st overall pick (6th round) of the NFL Draft.  LeFevour is a big guy at 6’3″, 229 pounds and he is enough of an athlete to buy time in the pocket as he runs a 4.75 40.  LeFevour landed in the perfect spot as he will likely flourish under offensive co-ordinator Mike Martz’ tutelege.  LeFevour played in 14 games (all starts) for the Chippewas last season and he completed 318 of 456 passes (69.7%) for 3,438 yards with 28 TD passes and 7 INTs.  In his four years at C.Michigan, LeFevour played in 53 games (51 starts) in which he completed 1,171 of 1,763 passes (66.4%) for 12,905 yards with 102 TD passes and 36 interceptions.  LeFevour will likely bump Caleb Hanie from the #2 QB job at some point in 2010.

The Chicago Bears pick CB Joshua Moore in the 5th round

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,The Draft Report by admin on Thursday 6 May 2010 at 9:57 am

The Bears have picked CB Joshua Moore with the 141th overall pick (5th round) of the NFL Draft.  Moore is on the small side at 5’10″, 188 pounds and he’s not the fastest runner around (4.52 40) but he is a solid football player.  He is willing to tackle against the running game and he is a decent special teams player.  Moore played in 12 games for Kansas State last season in which he had 76 tackles, he broke up 11 passes, had 2 interceptions and he had 5 tackles for a loss.  Moore played in 25 games at K.St. and he finished up with 111 tackles, he broke up 16 passes, had 3 interceptions and he had 7.5 tackles for a loss.  Moore was a solid pick for the Bears as he projects out to be a nickel back while helping out on special teams as a rookie.

The Chicago Bears pick DE Corey Wootton in the 4th round

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,The Draft Report by admin on Thursday 6 May 2010 at 9:47 am

The Bears have picked DE Corey Wootton with the 109th overall pick (4th round) of the NFL Draft.  Wootton was projected to be selected in the 1st or 2nd round by most experts but he didn’t look good last season as he still appeared to be favoring his right knee in which he tore ligaments in 2008.  He does have great size at 6’6″, 272 pounds and he runs a 4.8 40.  If Wootton’s knee is o.k. now the Bears got a absolute steal here.  Wootton played in 13 games (11 starts) for Northwestern last season and he had 21 tackles, 6 tackles for a loss, he had 4 sacks, 1 forced fumble and he recovered 1 fumble.  Wootton played in 53 games (47 starts) at Northwestern in which he had 128 tackles, 38 tackles for a loss, 19.5 sacks, he batted down 8 passes, forced 3 fumbles and he recovered 3 fumbles.  I really love this pick for the Bears.
