The Chicago Bears lose DT Israel Idonije for a while

Blogged under Big Bear News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Monday 5 October 2009 at 6:40 pm

The Bears with be without 28-year old DT Israel Idonije for a while after he underwent arthroscopic knee surgery earlier today.  There is no timetable back for his return yet.  He has played in all 4 games for the Bears this season and he has 4 tackles, 1 sack and he has forced a fumble.  Luckily for the Bears that they are very deep along the D-Line so they won’t miss Idonije too much while he’s out.

Desmond Clark of the Chicago Bears has a cracked rib

Blogged under Big Bear News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Thursday 17 September 2009 at 1:00 am

32-year old TE Desmond Clark cracked a rib against the Packers and he could miss a few weeks.  Clark caught 1 pass for 23 yards against the Packers before hurting himself.  Clark played in all 16 games for the Bears last season and he caught 41 passes for 367 yards (9.0 avg) with 1 TD grab.  Kellen Davis will replace Clark and that’s quite a drop especially in the passing game.  Davis played in all 16 games for the Bears as a rookie last season but he didn’t catch any passes.  He returned 1 kickoff for 13 yards and he made 4 tackles on special teams.  The Bears need Davis to step up and catch some passes while Clark is out of action.

The Chicago Bears lose Pisa Tinoisamoa for a while

Blogged under Big Bear News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Tuesday 15 September 2009 at 2:23 pm

The Bears have lost outside linebacker Pisa Tinoisamoa for the next few weeks due to a sprained PCL in his right knee.  Tinoisamoa didn’t make any tackles before he was injured.  Last season for the Rams he played in all 16 games making 104 tackles, defensing 2 passes, forcing 2 fumbles and he had 3 sacks.  Nick Roach will replace Tinoisamoa while he is out.  He made 1 tackle in the season opener against the Packers.  He has now played in 18 games in his NFL career and he has 41 tackles and he has defensed 2 passes.  The Bears really need Roach to step up.

Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher out for year

Blogged under Big Bear News,Bloglockers,General,Injury Reports by Andrew on Monday 14 September 2009 at 3:42 pm

The Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher had season ending surgery today on his dislocated wrist.  Urlacher dislocated his wrist when he made a tackle on the Green Bay Packers running back Ryan Grant during the first quarter of the Bears Sunday night loss in Green Bay.  At the time it didn’t seem serious at all, as Urlacher just shook it off and played the rest of the half.  He played one series in the second half and was done after that.  This is a huge blow for the Bears, as Urlacher came into the season healthier and in better shape than he has been in years.  Hunter Hillenmeyer will probably fill the void left by Urlacher but there are also rumors that the Bears are interested in signing Derrick Brooks, who was the NFL defensive player of the year in 2002.

The Chicago Bears lose Dusty Dvoracek for the season

Blogged under Big Bear News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Saturday 29 August 2009 at 9:12 pm

The Bears have lost 26-year old DT Dusty Dvoracek for the season due to a torn ACL.  This is the 4th season in a row that his season has ended due to injury.  Dvoracek played in 12 games (all starts) for the Bears last season and he made 29 tackles and defensed 2 passes.  He has now played in 13 games (all starts) in his NFL career and he has 31 tackles and has defensed 2 passes.  This poor guy would have no luck if not for bad luck.

The Chicago Bears season is in Rex Grossman’s hands now

Blogged under Big Bear News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Sunday 9 November 2008 at 4:45 pm

The Chicago Bears will be without starting QB Kyle Orton for the next 3-4 weeks due to a ankle injury.  This is a big blow to the Bears’ offense as Orton has been fantastic this season for them.  In 8 games, Orton has completed 151 of 244 passes (61.9%) for 1,777 yards with 10 TD passes and 4 interceptions (90.8 QB Rating).  He also has carried the ball 13 times for 45 yards (3.5 ypc) with a TD run as he has solidified his hold on the starting job for the Bears with his effort this season.  The Bears will need Rex Grossman to step up to keep their playoff hopes alive while Orton is out.  Grossman has played in 2 games for the Bears this season and he is 8 for 18 (44.4%) for 58 yards with 1 TD pass and 1 interception (47.9 QB Rating).  He also has carried the ball 2 times for 3 yards (1.5 ypc) with a TD run.  The Bears better hope that Kyle Orton is a quick healer as Grossman is still very mistake prone.

The Chicago Bears will be without CB Nathan Vasher tomorrow

Blogged under Big Bear News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Saturday 4 October 2008 at 9:18 pm

The Bears will be without starting right cornerback Nathan Vasher tomorrow after he underwent surgery on his right hand earlier this week.  Vasher has 13 tackles and a interception so far this season.  2nd year man Corey Graham will be starting at CB in Vasher’s place and the Lions are sure to attack his side of the field.  He has made 11 tackles so far this season for the Bears.

The Chicago Bears will be without WR Brandon Lloyd tomorrow

Blogged under Big Bear News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Saturday 4 October 2008 at 9:16 pm

The Bears will be without top WR Brandon Lloyd tomorrow against the Lions due to a knee injury.  Lloyd leads the Bears this season with 15 catches for 249 yards (16.6 avg) with 1 TD grab.  Marty Booker (3 rec, 34 yards, TD), Devin Hester (5 rec, 40 yards, TD) and Rashied Davis (9 Rec, 92 yards) will have to pick up the slack against the Lions so look for the Bears to keep the ball on the ground.

The Chicago Bears lose safety Brandon McGowan for the year

Blogged under Big Bear News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Friday 19 September 2008 at 7:43 pm

The Bears have lost safety Brandon McGowan for the season as he needs ankle surgery.  McGowan played in both games (1 start) for the Bears this season and he made 4 tackles and defensed a pass.  McGowan has played in 25 games (13 starts) in his NFL career and he has made 105 tackles, defensed 1 pass and he has 2 interceptions.  2nd year DB Kevin Payne will start at strong safety for the Bears now.  He has started both games for the Bears this season and he has made 8 tackles.  Payne has played in 5 games (3 starts) in his NFL career and he has made 10 tackles.  If Payne can stay healthy the Bears likely won’t miss McGowan too much.

The Chicago Bears lose rookie LT Chris Williams

Blogged under Big Bear News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injury Reports by admin on Thursday 7 August 2008 at 7:57 pm

The Bears have lost rookie left tackle Chris Williams who needed surgery to repair a herniated disc in his back today.  This is a huge blow to the Bears as Williams was projected to start as a rookie this year.  The Bears will be trying to add another tackle to start this season because they don’t want to go with John St. Clair who often looks like a matador on the field.  He played in all 16 games (5 starts) for the Bears last season and it didn’t go too well.  St. Clair has now played 8 seasons in his NFL career covering 91 games (39 starts) and the Bears have to hope he doesn’t add many starts this season or Rex Grossman and Kyle Orton could both get beat up.
